One of my realtor's gives away a flat screen tv with every referral that turns into a closed transaction. JMO Real Estate-Jerry Morrow. I'm not sure if it's worked out well for him but he seems to do a good amount of business.

A Realtor paying for a referral (giving a gift) is illegal in some states and allowed in others. People need to know the rule for where they hold their license. One state's limit is so low you can cross the line if you buy someone a nice meal (over $25).

John, I know legal and ethical etc are all different in reality, but I know a lot of guys including myself that have done the same with the tv's and stuff, but it is an appliance in the home that was part of the contract I swear LOL.

I know you and I have skirtted this issue before, almost everything can be done in a way to make it legal if you understand contracts and the law in your state and don't just go "hey I'll give you a tv to buy my house".

Important lesson number 2 (after marrying up) is think before you speak!
