I am maintaining a house for a buddy of mine, it is vacant he got married last year, and they moved into another house together.
I went to mow it today, and saw a lawn company parked in the drive. I went up and asked what they were doing, they said "the bank" had asked them to clean up the next door property. These are older houses in KCK and there isnt much parking room, thats why they were in the driveway I was going to mow. Anywhoo, they said they werent going to do the clean up because the weeds were too tall.........What the? I am thinking in my head. So they leave and I get this idea. What if I approach/call the bank and tell them I want to do the clean up. The house was foreclosed on a year ago, and NOTHING has been done to the yard. How do I find out who the "bank" is? Thanks in advance

F3, I take it there is no sign in the yard for a realtor that might have the house listed? If not, I would go to a realtor and tell them you are interested in this property. Don't tell them why you are interested, just interested. They will find out and get back to you.

Try the county probate or whatever version records deeds and mortgages. All mortgages are a matter of public record even if you are a non-disclosure state for the $$ amount. Meaning you can find who the loan was signed to in the beginning and usually when the loan is sold there is also a paper trail of the transfer of the loan. This info should be on line and if it is a fairly new loan you can probably get a pdf copy from your computer at home.

F3Nelson,
Do chase the bank as they might have a number of properties you can work on. They will care about your license or other required documents and insurance. Be prepared to demonstrate you are more than just an individual with an idea.
