How do I find comps for rental areas I am interested in investing in? Call for rent signs? Ads on Craigslist.com? How about some input here?

That is what we generally do. Look in the newspapers, call property managers in the area etc. Another good barometer is pricing of apartments in the vecinity of the house, that is another good indicator. We like to competitive with the apartments and in line with the sfr. We also use a price vs the value to help determine as well. Here we normally shoot for 1% of the value of the hosue for the rental rate.
