I am in Arkansas and I am in-between accountants. See here, http://www.flipitbig.com/business/75...t-start-2.html (To start or not to start?)
I went to the Arkansas SoS site and I was afraid to try and setup an LLC on my own. Is it complicated or am I just too worried? I have tried to search online, but it seems all I find are solicitors that will walk me through it for a fee. I am not opposed to paying a fee, but I would rather it be to an accountant, in my area, that I can yell at if something is wrong. What is the general consensus from everyone here? Wait until I find a new accountant or go it alone? |

I set my own up all of the time. There should be a page that tells you what forms they expect at your sec of state. That along with 100 bucks or so should do it. There are other considerations like operating agreements etc. but if it is a flow through for a rental property you can go it without that to set it up.

I have my lawyer handle the set up process. They charge very little above the state fees so it is well worth the money. Something they do all the time and something I rarely handle so they know the rules much better than I. It also helps later when I have discussions about deals as they know the corporate structure.
Each person might be different. The above is what I do.

Go to your Secretary of States website, contact their office. Most are more than happy to assist you with the process. As Steve said, for our state its very easy. Takes literally 3 minutes for us, when in doubt, always consult an attorney.
PS....Do not pay a web based company to do this for you, you can do this without them.

829,
I just got off the phone with someone at the SOS office; this is how they explained it to me. If your company is going to be managed by someone other than the officers of the company, then you will need to state "LLC will be member managed" and then below that, PRINT the names of the individuals who are going to be managing your company. If the company is going to be managed by the company officers, then leave this area blank. I hope this helps you.
